Clinton School Impact Minute: Little Rock School District

Stef Vestal, a 2024 graduate of the Clinton School of Public Service, completed her Capstone project with the Little Rock School District.

As part of her experience, Vestal served as a project manager for Re-Imagine Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School, leading regular meetings with school and district staff, and engaging community stakeholders in conversations about the school.

The decision was made to reopen the school for the 2024-25 school year as the “Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership and Language Magnet Academy” and to integrate language and service leadership into its curriculum.

The school will offer Spanish, Mandarin, and American Sign Language to reflect Little Rock’s global community and partnership with the Arkansas School for the Deaf.

In addition to the focus on language, the school will teach students leadership skills through a partnership with the Clinton School of Public Service.

As of this summer, the King Leadership and Language Magnet Academy has already seen an enrollment increase of more than 40 students, a 13% increase from the previous year.

The Clinton School Impact Minute is a recurring segment with Little Rock Public Radio, highlighting the Clinton School’s field service impact in.

Since 2004, Clinton School students have completed nearly 700 field service projects with more than 300 organizations in Arkansas alone, creating immediate and long-term impact for businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies across the state.
