Nicole Hellthaler, a 2019 graduate of the Clinton School, partnered with the Prison Yoga Project to create a monitoring and evaluation toolkit as part of her final Capstone project.
Prison Yoga Project envisions a cultural-shift toward a healing-centered approach to addressing crime, substance use disorder, and mental health disorders. Their mission is to provide programs for rehabilitation and resilience rooted in yoga and embodied mindfulness.
Hellthaler created the organization’s first monitoring and evaluation tools that continue to be used today.
She joined Prison Yoga Project full-time after graduation, and now serves as its Executive Director. Prison Yoga Project operates globally, but Hellthaler is especially committed to offering transformative yoga programs to incarcerated and system-impacted individuals in Little Rock.
Prison Yoga Project has provided weekly classes at the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility since 2021, helping participants manage stress and heal from trauma. Through a partnership with Camp Robinson’s Civilian Student Training Program, Prison Yoga Project has extended its outreach to juvenile participants, with plans to expand services to prisons across Arkansas.

Since 2004, Clinton School students have completed nearly 700 field service projects with more than 300 organizations in Arkansas alone, creating immediate and long-term impact for businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies across the state.
