Clinton School graduate Lindsey Morgan partnered with the Arkansas Department of Human Services to expand senior citizen outreach for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP.
Morgan collaborated with groups across Arkansas: working with local senior centers, housing agencies, and community groups to raise awareness about SNAP benefits. She analyzed Arkansas’s SNAP data and, using her findings, designed an easy-to-understand brochure to dispel common myths about the program. This brochure was distributed in local newspapers and later used nationwide.
Morgan’s goal was to connect low-income seniors with benefits that they could spend in their communities on healthy foods of their choice.
As a former DHS Family Support Specialist, Morgan returned to the agency that inspired her career in public service, using the tools she gained to strengthen programs from the inside out.
Upon graduation, Morgan took her work to the national level, landing a one-year fellowship with the Food Research and Action Center to help more people access the federal nutrition program.
The Clinton School Impact Minute is a recurring segment with Little Rock Public Radio, highlighting the Clinton School’s field service impact.
Since 2004, Clinton School students have completed nearly 700 field service projects with more than 300 organizations in Arkansas alone, creating immediate and long-term impact for businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies across the state.
