The Hunt Education Center in Helena-West Helena is a vital community gathering spot, home to Teach for America-Greater Delta and the central hub for the popular King’s Biscuit Blues Festival, along with Delta Magic.
When the COVID-19 pandemic forced it to close, Teach for America knew they needed a plan to bring it back. They partnered with Clinton School students Hannah Malone and Sarah Wambura to understand how the center could best serve the community.
The students surveyed and interviewed current and former residents to gather direct insight on their needs. The answer was clear. The community needed affordable, flexible gathering space.
Based on their research, the students found the Hunt Education Center could best continue to serve the community as a dynamic hub offering affordable work and conference space, a rental venue, and a gathering place for local initiatives. Today, the Hunt Education Center continues to serve as a reliable, affordable place to connect in the heart of the Arkansas Delta.
The Clinton School Impact Minute is a recurring segment with Little Rock Public Radio, highlighting the Clinton School’s field service impact.
Since 2004, Clinton School students have completed nearly 700 field service projects with more than 300 organizations in Arkansas alone, creating immediate and long-term impact for businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies across the state.
