Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – One of the world’s foremost authorities on security, terrorists and terrorist organizations, Fred Burton spoke at the Clinton School today about his book “GHOST: Confessions of a Counterterrorism Agent,” which chronicles career as a key figure in international counterterrorism and domestic spycraft.
A former special agent in counterterrorism for the State Department, Burton orchestrated the arrest of Ramzi Yousef, mastermind of the first World Trade Center bombing, and investigated cases such as the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, al Qaeda’s pre-9/11 plots to bomb New York City, and the Libyan-backed terrorist attacks against diplomats in Sanaa and Khartoum. Burton currently serves as vice president for counterterrorism and corporate security for the private security firm Stratfor.
