Susanna Creed (’18) is working as a Well-Being Coach with Curricula Concepts, Inc., an educational consulting organization promoting positive relationships between educators, children, and their families using dynamic and innovative models.
Creed’s new role is a field-based position that serves child care programs across the state on behalf of Curricula Concepts in partnership with University of Arkansas Early Care and Education Projects (ECEP). ECEP, in conjunction with the Arkansas Department of Education, Division of Elementary and Secondary Education, and the Arkansas Department of Human Services, Division of Child Care Early Childhood Education, provides statewide training for early educators.
Creed will recruit child care programs, deliver high-energy training, create partnerships with state organizations and local businesses on behalf of child care programs, and develop creative strategies to support child care providers as they work to achieve their unique set of well-being goals.
Creed, who previously worked with UA Little Rock Children International as a College and Career Program Specialist, said that several of her Clinton School courses will inform the work in her new position.
“Definitely program planning, communication and facilitation skills, research methods and evaluation,” Creed said. “I’ll also be able to use my nonprofit marketing class. I’ll probably be able to use my knowledge from the philanthropy class as well.”
As a Clinton School student, Creed’s international project took her to Ecuador to work with Fundacion Arte del Mundo. She conducted a needs assessment after the organization requested a new curriculum be developed to assist volunteers in becoming active participants in planning and leading afterschool programming activities. For her Capstone project, she created a teen mentorship program with Our House Shelter in Little Rock.
A native of Monrovia, Calif., Creed graduated from Towson University with a degree in kinesiology. Before enrolling at the Clinton School, she served as an AmeriCorps NCCC and AmeriCorps VISTA member and volunteered as a staff facilitator with the Next Step – Social Justice Retreat at Chapman University.
