Dean, School Appear in Southwest Airlines Mag

The Clinton School and it’s dean, Skip Rutherford, make an appearance in this month’s issue of Southwest Spirit Magazine, the in-flight magazine of Southwest Airlines.

The tidbits on the dean and the school are part of a large spread on Little Rock and the Central Arkansas region. The “Meet Little Rock” profile takes a look at the people and places that make Little Rock, a Southwest city, a unique destination for both visitors and residents. Here’s an exerpt:

“Our two-year program is grounded in academics, but centered in the real world,” Rutherford explains. “This year, we have students from 16 states and five foreign countries including Pakistan and Afghanistan.”

Students’ service projects exemplify this real-world focus: Each student spends part of the first year working with an Arkansas nonprofit, then works abroad during the summer.

Rutherford is proud of The Clinton School Speaker Series, a free program featuring venerable guests such as Madeleine Albright, Bob Woodward, and, of course, President Bill Clinton.

“We enhance and enrich our curriculum with the nation’s leading experts,” he says.
