Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – Dean Skip Rutherford served as the keynote speaker Thursday for the El Dorado, Ark., Academic Signing Day, where 95 percent of seniors signed letters of intent to 38 different colleges thanks in large part El Dorado-based Murphy Oil Corp.

The company established the $50 million “El Dorado Promise” in 2007, which provides scholarships at the hightest rate of in-state tuition for El Dorado seniors. More than $3 million has been awarded to date. Thanks to Murphy Oil, El Dorado’s 95 percent college going rate dwarfs the 66-percent national average.
