Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – Children’s Defense Fund founder Marian Wright Edelman delivered a Kumpuris Distinguished Lecture on Thursday night at the Clinton Center, reading from her book of letters entitled, “The Sea is So Wide and My Boat is So Small: Charting a Course for the Next Generation,” a call to action for all Americans to address the urgent needs of the country’s youth.
Specifically, Edelman read from a letter she wrote to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., reflecting on America’s struggles for equal rights, education and social change since his death in 1968. More than 200 people attend the lecture, a number of them Clinton School students. The lecture will be posted in the coming days at www.clintonschoolspeakers.com.
