Dr. Charlotte Williams, associate professor of leadership and director of the Center on Community Philanthropy, is currently supervising three grant projects: a $750,000 grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation titled “Shifting a Region and Influencing our culture toward Community Philanthropy,” a $225,000 also from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation titled “Pathways to racial healing and equity in the American South: A Community Philanthropy strategy,” and a $150,000 grant from the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation titled “Community Philanthropy: An approach to racial healing and equity in Arkansas.”
Her scholarship includes a 2011 study published in Foundation Review entitled Community philanthropy: How the Delta region revives, embraces and promotes the spirit of giving which analyzed patterns of giving, civic engagement and leadership development in small communities in Arkansas.
Williams recently developed and facilitated the 2012 Summit on Racial Healing featuring John a. Powell, director of the Haas Diversity Research Center at UC Berkley. She’s also worked on community philanthropy projects with the Arkansas Community Foundation and the Pine Bluff Community Foundation.
