Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Warigia Bowman

Dr. Warigia Bowman joined the Clinton School faculty as an assistant professor in January after teaching at the University of Cairo and the University of Mississippi.

This spring, she served as the keynote speaker at the Arkansas Undergraduate Research Conference. She was also recently interviewed by BBC radio about the rise of Joyce Banda to the presidency in Malawi.

This summer, Bowman is working on several research projects, including visiting Cairo, Egypt, to study the secular and progressive political parties that emerged following the country’s recent revolution.

Bowman will also continue her work in Kenya to monitor and evaluate whether the government is fulfilling its promises to build “Digital Villages” in rural areas of the country. While in Kenya, she hopes to launch a new research project evaluating the implementation of the new Kenyan constitution.
