Flat Stanley Winners Enjoy Lunch with the Beebes

Each year, Clinton School students partner with Arkansas First Lady Ginger Beebe to take Flat Stanley, the popular children’s book character, to locations across the world.

The students make paper Flat Stanley dolls and take pictures with him while they travel for their International Public Service Projects. Mrs. Beebe then shares Flat Stanley’s experiences with elementary students across Arkansas. It’s a great way to educate kids about other cultures and encourage them to read.

The Flat Stanley Project also includes a contest: the student who takes the most creative picture with Flat Stanley, gets invited to the Governor’s Mansion for lunch with Gov. and Mrs. Beebe. Earlier this week, 2008 winner Emily English and 2009 winner Sarah Clark enjoyed lunch with the Beebes.
