Four representatives of the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service will be recognized by the Arkansas Bar Association with Presidential Awards of Excellence for their work with the Public Service Academy.
Dean James L. “Skip” Rutherford III and Director of Public Programs and Strategic Partnerships Nikolai DiPippa will be recognized for their work with the inaugural academy, which included in-person sessions in Little Rock and Fayetteville during the 2019-20 academic year.
Additionally, Clinton School graduates Maggie Benson (‘14) and Nate Looney (‘12) will be honored for their work as co-chairs for the program.
Benson works in litigation at Kutak Rock, LLP in Fayetteville. Looney is a Senior Development Officer with the Arkansas Children’s Foundation. Both are graduates of the UA Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law.
The Arkansas Bar Association initiated the Public Service Academy for member lawyers seeking to serve in any capacity, including on school boards and city councils, with volunteer organizations or in the legislative, judicial, or executive branch. It is the third such program in the United States sponsored by a bar association.
The awards will be presented in a virtual ceremony on Thursday, June 11. The ceremony is part of the 122nd Arkansas Bar Association Annual Meeting, which includes opening remarks from Governor Asa Hutchinson among its several virtual speakers, and runs June 8-13.
