Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – The Clinton School has launched a new thematic publication reviewing ideas in public service. The review, called FRANK, embodies the Clinton School’s philosophy of straight forward, practical solutions through its “Academics for the Real World” curriculum.
The inaugural issue of FRANK, entitled “Has the Dream Arrived?” is centered on the theme of race relations in America, including a historic piece by David Eisenhower on the role of his grandfather, President Dwight Eisenhower, in the integration crisis at Little Rock Central High School in 1957. Included are excerpts from President Clinton’s speech honoring the Little Rock Nine during this September’s 50th anniversary commemoration of the crisis. Carlotta Walls Lanier, a member of the Little Rock Nine, also makes a contribution, reflecting on her experiences at Central High 50 years ago.

Other contributors to the first volume include Karl Rove, Rev. Jesse Jackson, renowned evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins, Simon Cowell of American Idol, Eboo Patel, CNN Middle East correspondent Aneesh Raman, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Walter Pincus of The Washington Post, and Rwandan President Paul Kagame, among others. The issue also includes a profile of Clinton School student and 2004 Asian tsunami survivor Rina Muetia of Banda Aceh, Indonesia.
