Posted by student CHAD WILLIAMSON – Visiting Little Rock for the first time, my father came the week of the scholarship luncheon. That specific week was packed with public programs and my dad was more than impressed with the Clinton School experience. He really enjoyed Beatrice Biira’s speech at the scholarship luncheon (click here to watch) and bought a couple books for her to sign. As a proud grandfather of my sister’s two boys (Davis and Ben), he bought one book for her family.

Well, my sister called me this week to ask if Beatrice and I were in any pictures together, which was a little puzzling to say the least. She went on to tell me that she would be reading “Beatrice’s Goat” to my nephew’s 1st grade class this Friday and needed a picture (per request of Davis) of us together for proof that I knew her. Evidently, I’m not that big of a deal. Anyway, she read the book to his class today and it went great. As the kids posed for a photograph, they were goofing around until my sister said, “Beatrice is going to see this”, and they immediately got serious for the picture.
It only made me think of the ways in which all of my classmates make a difference in so many other lives. From Lisa Porterfield-Thompson organizing the breast cancer walk, to Dimas Espinola playing the game of Life with a child admitted to Arkansas Children’s Hospital…I’m surrounded by a bunch of great classmates that understand what it means to give their time and talent for the “common good.” I could tell you other great things about this class but the blog would go on too long. Just another great day to be a Clinton School student…and the best is yet to come!
