Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – Jennifer Hicks, Class of 2010, invites you to attend a fundraiser and silent auction benefiting Amani Children’s Home, Tanzanian orphanage where she will complete her International Public Service Project for the Clinton School this summer. The silent auction will feature an interesting array of items from Arkansas and around the world, including original artwork created by Tanzanian children served by Amani.
Moshi, Tanzania is a central hub for adventure seekers who dare to climb Africa’s highest peak or travel on safari through the nation’s grasslands. A tourist haven for the world’s privileged, Moshi is home to the most vulnerable and impoverished population in Africa: the destitute children of Tanzania who have nowhere but the streets of Moshi to call home. Amani Children’s Home is a beacon of hope for these children that have nothing else, but hope.

Jennifer is the second Clinton School student to work with Amani Children’s Home. She follows in the footsteps of James Mitchell, Class of 2009, who is now completing his Capstone for the Clinton School in Moshi, Tanzania. Since its founding by Tanzanians in 2001, Amani Children’s Home has rescued hundreds of children from the perils of life on the streets, where they face a high risk of HIV transmission, malnutrition, and abuse.
