Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – The German ambassador to the United States Klaus Scharioth spoke today at the Clinton School about the importance of German transatlantic relations with the United States. Currently on a tour of U.S. southern state, Scharioth was named ambassador to the United States by Chancellor Angela Merkel in March 2006 after 30 years in the Foreign Service.
The ambassador was introduced by Clinton School first-year student Adam Penman, who is interested in pursuing a career in European affairs following graduation in 2010. More than 200 people turned out for the Clinton School’s first public program of 2009. The ambassador’s speech will be available tomorrow on our speaker Web site: www.clintonschoolspeakers.com.
