Looking Over the President’s Shoulder

Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – We’re excited to be one of the sponsors of the Arkansas Repertory Theater’s production of “Looking over the President’s Shoulder,” a play based on the true story of Alonzo Fields, who served as the White House’s first African-American Chief Butler for a quarter of a century during four presidential administrations, including Hoover, Roosevelt, Truman and Eisenhower. CLICK HERE for more on what promises to be a great production with Lawrence Hamilton playing the role of Fields.

To coincide with the play’s opening night next Wednesday, we will host a public program at noon entitled, “Life in the White House,” featuring Ann McCoy and Margaret Whillock, both of Little Rock, who worked in the White House Visitors Office during the Clinton Administration. McCoy and Whillock, who both served as deputy director of the Visitors Office among other jobs, helped facilitate thousands of visitors ranging from heads of state, titans of business and some of the most sought after celebrities to ordinary American citizens. Additionally, they helped plan major events such as state dinners, the Easter Egg Roll, the Lighting of the National Christmas Tree and the 4th Of July Celebrations on the White House lawn.

To attend this program, RSVP by emailing publicprograms@clintonschool.uasys.edu.
