Clinton School graduate James Mitchell (’09) has been named international programs fellow for the 2012-13 academic year.
Mitchell will assist Dr. Ellen Fitzpatrick, director of international programs, with program management, development of new international partnerships and placement of students in their International Public Service Projects.
A native of Cleveland, Miss., Mitchell completed his final Clinton School Capstone project with Amani Children’s Home, an orphanage in Tanzania. Since graduating from the school, Mitchell has tackled several endeavors, including teaching English in Japan; developing a business model to allow for pro-bono service to indigent clients for a Memphis attorney; and studying organic farming and sustainable food systems in Central America.
An avid traveler, Mitchell also found time to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro and run with the bulls in Spain. His experience traveling to over 20 countries will be valuable as he assists Clinton School students in the international program.
Mitchell will also continue to provide updates on the international travels of Clinton School students for the blog.
A former AmeriCorps volunteer, Mitchell completed his undergraduate education at the University of Southern Mississippi, where he studied history and French.
