MTV Act Recognizes Student’s Work

Clinton School student Ryan Ubuntu Olson has been highlighted by MTV Act for his work this summer with the Gay and Lesbian Coalition of Kenya in Nairobi.

Olson worked to help the organization advance the human rights of homosexuals and gender minorities across Kenya. Here’s an excerpt from the story from the MTV Act website:

Olson emphasizes decriminalization as one of the primary steps towards achieving international LGBT rights. “If there’s a law that prohibits you from being who you are it’s hard to speak up,” he says. Our actions as Americans matter, too. We have a responsibility to export compassion and inclusion rather than discriminatory ideologies, whether through the media or on our travels abroad.
