Office of Community Engagement Accepting Practicum Project Proposals for 2022-23

Submit Your Practicum Project Proposal

The Office of Community Engagement at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service is currently accepting Practicum project proposals for the 2022-23 academic year. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 8.

The Clinton School’s Practicum project is the first of three major field service projects, taking teams of first-year students into Arkansas communities to foster teamwork and direct application of classroom skills, while also adding tremendous value to the partner organization. Examples of past project work include designing and conducting surveys, interviews, and focus groups; facilitating public discussions and/or building stakeholder coalitions; best practices research; and needs assessments to identify problems and recommend appropriate solutions. Questions should be directed to Dr. Nichola Driver at nddriver@clintonschool.uasys.edu.

As part of the school’s Master of Public Service degree program, the students earn academic credit for their work on three major field service projects.

In addition to the team-based Practicum project, the International Public Service Project (IPSP) places students with international organizations across the world during the summer after their first year, and the final Capstone project allows second-year students to work with an approved organization of their choosing to put their learned skills to use with a government, for-profit, or nonprofit agency of their choosing.

Twenty-five percent of the MPS degree curriculum comes from direct field service learning.
