Onion CEO Draws Large Crowd

Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – Steve Hannah, CEO of The Onion, drew a big Clinton School crowd for his Thursday night lecture, featuring video and headlines from the popular “fake news” paper. While Hannah runs the business operations of The Onion, he still got plenty of laughs for his depiction of the paper’s history.

As with The Onion, Hannah’s speech was filled with satire, and the crowd loved it. One thing he said was clearly true – The Onion doesn’t choose sides when it comes to poking fun.

“Our political coverage has never been anti-right or anti-left. … It’s always been anti-dumb,” he said. “I think we’ve been equal opportunity skewerers for the hundreds of years we’ve been publishing.”

Introduced by Clinton School student Alejandro Aviles, Hannah’s lecture will be posted today at www.clintonschoolspeakers.com.
