Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – Blake Mycoskie, founder and chief “shoe giver” of TOMS Shoes which gives a pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair purchased, spoke Friday at the Clinton School about his rapidly-growing company.
Mycoskie said he got the idea for TOMS after traveling to Argentina in 2006 where he encountered children who had no shoes. Now, TOMS shoes are helping to prevent disease and allow children to attend school in impoverished areas throughout the world, including Argentina and Ethiopia. To date, TOMS has given away more than 130,000 pairs of shoes and its sales continue to grow, Mycoskie said.
