Quarles Named Director of Local Programs and Regional Outreach

Beth Quarles (’19) has been announced as the Director of Local Programs and Regional Outreach for the Office of Community Engagement at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service.

“I am looking forward to helping students navigate through their public service field work whether that be through conversations with community partners or connecting students to resources around their focus or passion,” Quarles said.

As part of her new position, Quarles will oversee the two-semester, project-based learning Practicum course, develop partnerships between the Clinton School and local, regional, and national organizations, and cultivate high-quality field service projects for students. She officially begins her new position on January 3.

“We couldn’t be more excited for Beth to join the OCE team,” said Dr. Nichola Driver, who serves as Faculty Director for the Office of Community Engagement. “From her experience in the classroom as an educator, to her time as a volunteer trainer and mentor, to her passion for being a community connector – she is all-around a great fit for this position. She already has so many ideas for building on the Practicum experience and pushing it to the next level. She will be a great addition to our Clinton School family.”

Most recently, Quarles served as the Volunteer Experience Director for Girl Scouts – Diamonds of Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma. Her teaching background includes classroom experience at schools in Arkansas and Tennessee. She was named the Teacher of the Year in 2014 by the Metro-Nashville Public Schools.

Additionally, Quarles currently serves as the Commissioner for the Little Rock Commission on Children, Youth, and Families and is a board member for Women Lead Arkansas. As a Clinton School student, she was the recipient of the Shannon Butler Bridge Builder Award.

In addition to her Master of Public Service, Quarles earned her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Lipscomb University.
