Clinton School student Lindsey Johnson (’11) provides a report from Saturday’s Race for the Cure, which raises money and awareness for those affected by breast cancer:
On Saturday, I joined 14 of my Clinton School classmates who registered for this year’s Race for the Cure.
We were among the 45,000 women from across the state lined up on Broadway in downtown Little Rock at 8:00 a.m. to walk or jog to raise money and awareness for breast cancer care and research.
Every year, Little Rock hosts the third largest race in the country as women come from across the state and the region to honor their loved ones who have been impacted by breast cancer.
The streets are lined with family members, friends, fire fighters, local bands, cheer squads, yoga groups, political campaigners, bikers, dancers and other fans. The energy and excitement from the start to the finish is contagious.
There were six participants from Class Six (Ashley Bachelder, Shenan Boit, Tabitha Lee, Jasmine Medley, Hilary Trudell and Ryan Williams) and nine from Class Five (Kim Caldwell, Valerie Hendrix, Heather Malveaux, Julie Meyer, Erin O’Leary, Rebecca Morrison, Anna Strong, Judy Watts and me), plus alumni like Class Four graduate Regina Wilkerson.
