Sexual Assault Awareness

Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – A recognized expert on domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking, Cindy Dyer spoke today at the Clinton School in conjunction with Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Dyer is the director of Human Rights for Vital Voices Global Partnership, a nonprofit women’s organization working to help women in Africa, Asia, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East.

A former prosecutor, Dyer said more needs to be done to prevent domestic violence from happening in the first place. She discussed a number of methods to empower women who are faced with sexual assault and abusive relationships. A video of her lecture will be posted soon at www.clintonschoolspeakers.com.

Dyer’s lecture was hosted in partnership with the Arkansas Coalition Against Sexual Assault. Previously, Dyer was appointed by President George W. Bush as director of the Office on Violence Against Women at the U.S. Department of Justice.
