Hallie Shoffner, who earned her Master of Public Service from the Clinton School of Public Service in 2011, has been recognized by Garden & Gun as a Champion of Conservation for her work as CEO of SFR Seed.
A sixth-generation farmer and vocal climate activist, Shoffner advocates for more awareness of climate extremes and their detrimental effects on modern farmers and the food chain.
SFR Seed is a contract soybean and rice parent seed production farm in Newport, Ark., for customers across the globe.

Climate change, she says, is the biggest threat facing farmers—and the food chain. “If a hurricane hits the Gulf Coast and demolishes one of the biggest granaries in the world,” she explains, “and you can’t get your grain sold down to the port, or prices have tanked because grain can’t leave the country, that’s still climate change affecting you.”
