Student Gives Fun Trivia for the Day

Posted by ERIC WILSON – Clinton School student Adam Penman is working with the Czech Development Agency in Prague this summer to complete his International Public Service Project. Specifically, he is working on analyzing international aid from the Czech Republic to Serbia and Kosovo.

Adam recently shared some photos with us. For those of you who believe in learning something new every day, we wanted to share this one with you.

David Cerny is a Czech sculptor or, as Adam refers to him, “the prankster artist of Prague.” Above is a picture of “Hanging Man,” a life-size sculpture of Sigmund Freud. Adam gave us more background info on the artist in his email:

“His latest exhibit was part of a giant hoax to fool the Czech committee in charge of the art project each EU country has in honor of its assumption of the EU presidency (Czech Republic did that this January). Entitled “Entropa” and supposedly meant to honor the member countries, this giant mobile included large sculptures with joke-representations of the member countries (Romania as a giant Dracula theme park, France covered with an “on strike” sign, Germany covered in highways that suspiciously look like a swastika, etc.). Needless to say, some of the country representatives weren’t exactly amused.”

If this caught your interest, you can read more about “Entropa” from this CNN story earlier this year. CLICK HERE.
