Students, Dean Attend Delta Conference

Posted by student TODD MOORE – Four Clinton School students – Mircha King, Elrina Frost, Latoya Wilson and me  – and Dean Skip Rutherford attended a conference on issues facing the Delta in Helena-West Helena on Saturday at Phillips Community College.

The conference, titled, “The Delta: Poverty, Education, and Economic Development – A Forum on the Future of the Delta Region,” focused on the unique issues facing the Delta region in the areas of poverty, education and economic development. The meeting brought together undergraduate students, graduate students, Arkansas scholars and researchers from across the region with an interest in the future of the Mississippi Delta Region.

The Clinton School was well represented this weekend at the conference. I presented a research paper, “The Delta Visual Arts Center: Planning to Plan,” co-authored by classmates Emily Fischer and Joanna Klak

I was joined by University of Mississippi honor student, Elizabeth Joseph and three faculty presenters on Saturday. Dean Rutherford served as the luncheon speaker, providing his usual blend of humor and insight to conference participants.
