As part of their coursework, four Clinton School students have partnered with the Sustainable Business Network of Central Arkansas to address the needs of the sustainable business community in the region.
Clinton School students Laura Crosby of Boca Raton, Fla., Mark Eastham of McLean, Va., Papy Muntumosi of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo and Kellen Utecht of Underwood, N.D., will support the creation of a sustainable business community by investigating the needs of businesses using sustainable business practices.
Dr. Nancy Landrum, an associate professor of management at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and other local business leaders launched the business network in 2010. The group describes itself as a “green chamber of commerce,” offers networking, mentoring and educational programs to its member businesses. The network hopes to be the hub of the sustainable business community in Central Arkansas.
The students will explore needs of both members and non-members of the sustainable business network to create effective programs and promote the adoption of long-term sustainability practices in Central Arkansas.
“We are excited to use the information gathered by the Clinton School students in order to tailor the programming and services to the needs of the sustainable business community” Landrum said. “This is an important step in fulfilling our vision of every business being a sustainable business.”
Crosby, Eastham, Muntumosi and Utecht all bring previous education, nonprofit and business experience to this project. The students are looking forward to applying their knowledge, skills and abilities to support the development of the Sustainable Business Network.
This project is one of 10 to be completed by 38 Clinton School students across the state of Arkansas. These students are in their first-year at the school’s Master of Public Service degree program.
