Clinton School students will host a letter writing campaign to support U.S. Military members in conjunction with the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance.
The students invite members of the Central Arkansas community to join them at the Clinton School on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to write a card or letter of support to military members overseas on the 10th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The students will also collect monetary donations to support local firefighters.
“As a school of public service, we want to answer President Obama’s call to a national day of service to honor the victims of the September 11 attacks,” said Fernando Cutz, Clinton School student body president. “We invite others in the community to join us in this effort to support our troops and local firefighters.”
Materials for creating cards and letters will be available on site or participants can drop off pre-written letters at the school Sunday afternoon. The Clinton School is located in the restored passenger train station adjacent to the Clinton Library at 1200 President Clinton Avenue in downtown Little Rock. The school will collect the cards and letters from Sunday’s activity and mail them next week.
The Clinton School is the nation’s first graduate school to offer a Master of Public Service degree. The school currently enrolls more than 70 students who are completing the two-year program, which combines in-class study with a series of hands-on public service projects.
