Students to Particpate in International Education Conference

Seven Clinton School students will join faculty member Don Ernst at the 20th International Democratic Education Conference (IDEC) this weekend in Caguas, Puerto Rico.

The students will attend sessions with presenters from across the globe and visit schools dedicated to improving the educational lives of the most marginalized students in Puerto Rico. They will also visit with the mayor of Caguas and educational advisors to the Governor of Puerto Rico.

Those participating include Nikki Hamilton, Eakpot Nimkulrat, Derrick Rainey, Trish Flanagan, Heath Carelock, Andy Lewis and Spencer Lucker.

The students will participate in the First Regional Gathering of the Americas and the Caribbean around critical educational and human rights issues of children and young people.

As important as the formal program will be the opportunity for the students to interact informally with educators, scholars, human right activists and political leaders from all over the world, Ernst said.
