Posted by DEAN SKIP RUTHERFORD – The Beebes, Governor and Mrs. Mike Beebe hosted students from the Clinton School with a reception at the Governor’s Mansion yesterday to recognize the partnership between Mrs. Beebe and our students to promote literacy, global awareness and international opportunities for Arkansas elementary students.
Using the beloved childrens book character “Flat Stanley,” Clinton School students photographed their international public service project experiences and locations. Students were on all six of the world’s inhabited continents, participating in projects to expand health care opportunities, promote education and eradicate poverty in the third world. Mrs. Beebe has incorporated their stories and “Flat Stanley” photographs into her presentations when she visits schools. When possible, Clinton School students accompany her.
The international public service projects are one of the many exciting aspects of our Master of Public Service (MPS) degree. We are proud to work with Mrs. Beebe in bringing the world to Arkansas classrooms.
