Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – Clinton School student Beatrice Biira will be featured on Channel 11 news tonight in Little Rock. Biira’s life offers a compelling story of overcoming extreme poverty to receive an education. At the age of 9, Beatrice remained uneducated, living in poverty in a small Ugandan village. But she was able to achieve her lifelong dream of attending school because of hard work and a goat named Mugisa or “Luck.” Through Heifer International’s renowned program, Beatrice’s family sold enough milk to pay for school, eventually receiving a college scholarship. After graduating from Connecticut College in May, she decided to continue her education at the Clinton School. Tune in to Channel 11 at 6pm tonight for more of Beatrice’s story.
