Currently enrolled in the Executive Master of Public Service degree program, Renee Tyler’s article, “Transformative Leadership: Overcoming the Challenge of Welcoming Diversity and Inclusion in the Workforce” has been published in the February 2019 edition of the APWA Reporter.
The content of the article was inspired by the classwork in “Leadership in Public Service,” taught by Dr. Malcolm Glover.
The APWA Reporter, a publication of the American Public Works Association, serves as the prime communication link uniting the community of public works professionals who make up APWA. It is edited primarily for public works officials at local, state, and federal levels, as well as others involved in the public works field.
Tyler, who is the Director of Transportation Services for the City on Dubuque, Iowa, is a member of the APWA Committee for Diversity and Inclusion. Prior to her time in Dubuque, Tyler was employed by the City of Little Rock from 2013 to 2016 as fleet acquisition, parts, and special projects manager.
In July, Tyler was selected to participate in the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) reciprocal professional exchange program as part of Professional Fellows Programs. The program sent Tyler to Thailand for two weeks in September, offering opportunities for educational exchanges between United States and Southeast Asian leaders.
