Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – As we prepare to announce our September speakers later this week, we remember the very first Clinton School lecture in this week’s edition of “UACS History 101.” Former Kansas Senator and 1996 Republican presidential candidate Bob Dole gave the inaugural Clinton School lecture on September 18, 2005.
Dole told stories of his interactions with presidents throughout his years in politics and jokes about his 1996 campaign. In covering the topic of public service, Dole said that party lines don’t matter when it comes to giving back to the world.
Dole’s appearance not only symbolized the bipartisan approach the school would take with its speaker series, but it also reflected the caliber of lectures that the school would continuously bring to Little Rock.
Since 2006, the school has welcomed more than 100 public lectures each year ranging from senators, congressmen, cabinet officials and ambassadors to renowned academics, corporate CEOs, philanthropists, authors and journalists.
