Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – The marching band at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff has the extraordinary opportunity to participate in the inauguration of the nation’s first African American president on January 20 in Washington, D.C. But to march in Barack Obama’s inauguration parade, the band needs help raising the more than $200,000 to fund the trip for more than 250 band members.
Sending the Marching Musical Machine of the Mid-South to the inauguration is more than a worthy cause. Not only are they the best college marching band we’ve ever seen, but they come from Arkansas’s only historically black public university. The Clinton School asks that you consider a donation to help the UAPB band participate in the inauguration.
If you’d like to give, make your check payable to the UAPB Foundation with a memo that your donation is for the band. Mail checks to the UAPB Office of University Relations and Development, 1200 N. University, Slot 4981, Pine Bluff, AR 71601. Credit card donations can be made by calling 870-575-8701.
For more information, call UAPB band director John Graham at 870-575-8036.
