Posted by DEAN SKIP RUTHERFORD – It’s countdown time for the 2008 elections. As part of our public programming series, the Clinton School will be presenting a student panel at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 3, (election eve) entitled: “Young, Energized and Voting.”
Five of our students will offer perspectives on various aspects of the presidential campaign. Ashley Davis, a Colorado native and Boston University graduate, will moderate. Panelists include Sarah Clark of Little Rock, a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, who will focus on young women voters noting the impact of Senator Hillary Clinton and the vice presidential candidacy of Governor Sarah Palin. Nicholas Hall, a native of Ohio and a graduate of Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, will highlight the role of technology in the campaign. Sanford Johnson, of Helena who grew up in Starkville, Miss., and is a graduate of Auburn University, will discuss the African-American vote and Russ Swearingen of Rogers, a graduate of Lyon College in Batesville, will talk about young, independent voters and issues that are influencing them.
As you can see from their backgrounds, these students have insight regarding the important “toss up” states of Colorado, North Carolina and Ohio in addition to the highly contested United States Senate campaign between Senator Roger Wicker and former Governor Ronnie Musgrove in Mississippi.
