Clinton School grad and KUAR public radio anchor Malcolm Glover, whose commentary on Egypt is posted below, has won an award for his reporting on female veterans. Glover earned a Gracie Award, given by the Alliance for Women in the Media, for his story on female veterans seeking support from the VA.
Here’s more from a story posted on the KUAR website:
The Gracies strive to encourage the realistic and faceted portrayal of women in entertainment, commercials, news, features and other programs.
“We hear a lot about the war stories of men, but I wanted to make sure we delved into the service and sacrifice of women in uniform as well,” says Glover. “The story of Retired Army Colonel Diann Terry provides an intimate look at how the VA’s services have changed over the course of three decades. Terry’s experience shows us how the mental, physical and emotional needs of women in uniform are finally being addressed in a male-dominated military culture.”
Glover’s award was in the Outstanding Soft News Feature category.
KUAR General Manager Ben Fry says the station has a long and proud history of awards from the Alliance for Women in Media (formerly American Women in Radio and Television), going back to before they called the awards “Gracies” after radio personality Gracie Allen.
