University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service Dean James L. “Skip” Rutherford III will moderate an online program with Pulitzer Prize-nominated writer Dr. David R. Goldfield on Thursday, November 12 at 7 p.m. The program is “Perspectives in History: American Politics in the Age of Polarization.”
The virtual conversation will be hosted through the Arkansas State House Society. Registration is available online.
Goldfield will address discord in the nation in comparison with other similar periods in history. He is the Robert Lee Bailey Professor of History at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Goldfield has authored 16 books, including two nominated for the Pulitzer Prize – “Black, White and Southern: Race Relations and Southern Culture” and “Cotton Fields and Skyscrapers.”
Goldfield’s most recent book is “The Gifted Generation: When Government Was Good,” which explores the presidencies of Truman, Eisenhower, and Johnson, and how their leadership of the federal government was instrumental in the great economic, social, and environmental progress of the post-WWII era.
