Posted by student TODD MOORE – Emily Fischer, Joanna Klak, and I attended the “Artlinks 2008: The Value of the Arts in the 21st Century” conference today at the Statehouse Convention Center. Artlinks is sponsored by the Arkansas Arts Council, an agency of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, in collaboration with the Clinton School of Public Service and Wildwood Park for the Arts.
The first day of the conference featured speakers from Texas and North Carolina, discussing topics on inclusivity and relationship management. The final presenters of the day delivered an apt presentation on developing statewide arts advocacy, featuring our fellow Clinton School student, Julie West. West recently returned from three months of public service in Kathmandu, Nepal completing her International Public Service Project for the Clinton School. The panel emphasized broadening resources, deepening relationships and diversifying partnerships to increase programmatic visibility and improve Arkansas’ creative economy.
Today, Artlinks 2008 will feature keynote speaker Tim Wojan, a rural economist who will discuss the potential for economic development in Arkansas’s rural creative economy.
