President Barrack Obama is currently weighing Army General Stanley McChrystal’s recommendation to deploy 40,000 additional U.S. troops to Afghanistan. In his lecture, Jawad expressed his country’s support for McChrystal’s proposal.

On the final day of the AAUP’s annual Higher Education Conference, Claiborne Deming received the first Tip of the Spear Award, “designed to recognize those who value the importance of higher education and its direct impact on the state’s future economic development.”
