Those who follow our blog may recall that the closest thing to an “official” Clinton School sport is BAGGO. Well, an official sport requires an official mascot. After tossing out hundreds of ideas we decided to hold off and wait for a sign, possibly a signal of some sort. Picking a mascot is a very important decision and we wanted it to occur naturally.

Clinton School Dean Skip Rutherford will give the Jim and Jill Gaston distinguished lecture at Arkansas State University-Mountain Home on Monday at 7:00 p.m. Dean Rutherford plans to discuss the youth vote and the rise of technology as the country heads into election day November 4.

Early Voting

Early voting began in Arkansas Monday and I voted on the first day. While in years past I treasured the excitement of voting on election day, several years ago I unexpectedly had to go out of town and barely made it back in time to cast my ballot. From that point on, I have done my best to vote early — particularly for primary and general elections.

Honoring First Lady Ginger Beebe

Governor Mike Beebe and Clinton School Dean Skip Rutherford will pay tribute to Arkansas First Lady Ginger Beebe on Monday evening at a dinner benefitting the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Little Rock. The Interfaith Hospitality Network is composed of 19 church congregations that house homeless families. Mrs. Beebe is being honored as the organization’s 2008 Homeless Advocate of the Year.

Buffalo River Camping

From there, we hiked the Indian Rock House Trail, passing by waterfalls and “natural bathtubs” and ending at a giant, beautiful rock cave that was once home to Native Americans. After finishing our hike, we went swimming in the Buffalo River, below the majestic limestone bluffs at Buffalo Point.
