Kickball Team Undefeated

We had another victorious day after beating the Bad News Beers 9-3 on Sunday. As in the games past, everyone made their special contribution, including fence-jumping grace by Dimas Espanola. Ali Turro and Sarah Clark made outstanding catches in left field, and Jonathan Dunkley was a last-minute addition to the lineup after putting together a bassinete for his new baby girl (4-day-old Isabella Marie).

Clinton School students Chad Williamson, Alejandro Aviles and Kohl Fallin introduced their story bank project to members of the Arkansas Finish Line Coalition on Monday at the Cress Boardroom at Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

Students Introduced to Newport

Three Clinton School students, Emily Fischer, Joanna Klak and Todd Moore today were introduced to the Newport, Ark., community where they will be helping to plan a Delta Visual Arts Center this year. The project is part of the school’s Practicum  program which requires the students to complete “in-the-field” public service projects.

What’s better than watching NFL football on Sunday? Watching the SOBs (Students of Bill) playing kickball of course. The Class 4 students left everything on the field today, defeating the Acme Roadrunners, 19-4. Every player had at least one hit, including three homeruns.

Clinton School student Beatrice Biira will be featured on Channel 11 news tonight in Little Rock. Biira’s life offers a compelling story of overcoming extreme poverty to receive an education. At the age of 9, Beatrice remained uneducated, living in poverty in a small Ugandan village.

Calling the Hogs

As reported below, the Class of 2010 enjoyed a day at the University of Arkansas on Saturday where they lunched with UA faculty and administrators, toured the campus and enjoyed the Razorback football game. After arriving via bus from Little Rock, the students heard from UA chancellor G. David Gearhart and had the opportunity to visit with several UA Board of Trustees members.

What an opportunity we all had today as we visited Little Rock Central High School National Historic site (compliments of our classmate, Spirit Trickey-Rowen). What we considered to be a day off from classes ended up being a fabulous lesson in itself.
