– Back from covering the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Wahl will discuss the state of American soccer. Wahl will also sign copies of his New York Times bestselling book, “The Beckham Experiment,” which chronicles English star David Beckham’s stint in American soccer.
Lunch with a Senator
The new Clinton School students enjoyed a lunch discussion today with Arkansas Senator Blanch Lincoln. Senator Lincoln stopped by to visit with the students about public service, politics and her work in the U.S. Senate.

The new Clinton School students took a break from orientation this morning to volunteer at the Arkansas Rice Depot. The students helped make packages of rice that the depot will distribute to needy families.

The new Clinton School students met with their field service directors, Marie Lindquist and Joe Ballard, along with graduate assistants Julianne Dunn, Sophia Said and David Monteith on Wednesday for a session about the three public service projects that make up the school’s field service curriculum.

Part of the session included the team communication and collaboration activity, “The Tallest Tower.” Students were instructed to build the tallest free-standing tower with the resources provided which included coffee cups, stir sticks, construction paper, masking tape and paper bags.

Clinton School student Jack Lofton (’11) will speak tomorrow to the Little Rock Downtown Kiwanis Club. Lofton, who is executive director of the Little Rock Film Festival, will discuss his work to help make Arkansas an attractive location for film productions. Lofton spent his summer working with the Arkansas Film Commission to recruit international production to the state.
