As part of the Clinton School Class of 2011 Orientation, student groups introduced their year-long Practicum projects to their classmates by designing campaign posters. The only requirement was to create a professional poster with a slogan that illustrated the work they will be engaging in this year.

I have been spending this summer completing my IPSP with the Nyaka AIDS Foundation in Uganda. One of Nyaka’s most successful components has been its Grannies Project, which has mobilized more than 6,000 women in two districts. After having lost their own children to HIV/AIDS, many of these women have stepped up raise their grandchildren, the next generation of Ugandans.

Hola from Bolivia. I am spending my summer working at La Colónia Ecológica, an orphanage and afterschool center devoted to helping children and adolescents in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Founded in 2002 by Francisco Villanueva Torrez (Kiko) and Maria del Carmen Vargas Doria Medina (Carmen), La Colónia serves over 114 children, 30 of whom live at the center and have either been abandoned or whose parents work long hours in low paying jobs.

I am completing my international project at Nyaka AIDS Orphans School which located in Nyakagyezi village in southwestern Uganda. Nyaka serves more than 300 children who have lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS and with more than 2 million AIDS orphans in the country, the needs are very great.
